Benefits of Hair Stem Cell Transplantation

HAIR STEM CELL TRANSPLANTATION

The HST transplantation technique, i.e. Hair Stem Cell Transplantation, offers several unique advantages. This technique is extremely different from all known techniques for hair transplantation. Instead of taking whole follicular units from the donor area and moving them to the receptor area, as other techniques do, the follicular units are multiplied, making them grow back in the donor area. This is an exceptional benefit for the patient. Indeed, after a delay of about 9 months, the patient has his donor area reconstituted and therefore possibly reusable for a new intervention.

Different advantages of the hair stem cell transplantation technique

The advantages of this technique are not limited to the regrowth of the donor area. We can mention the fact that, since this operation is performed with needles that are extremely smaller than those used for blood tests, it does not cause any scarring. And no stains remain visible in the donor area. The other advantage is that this technique does not require any bandage. At the end of the operation, the patient can then be immediately operational in his work or in his daily activities.

How the hair stem cell transplant technique works

How does this technique work? By removing part of the follicular unit with microsurgery, the surgeon divides the follicular unit, object of the intervention, into two parts. Both portions contain hair stem cells, which are comparable to the seeds of a plant. Each part into which the follicular unit has been divided can reproduce the same original follicular unit. Thus, within 9 months the follicular units of the donor area are reconstituted exactly as before the operation. In the recipient area, the transplanted portion of the follicular unit regenerates in the same way, by in vivo cloning by becoming a new twin follicular unit of the starting unit.

Hair stem cell transplant technique is optimal for young people

This technique is the only one indicated for very young patients. In fact, a young patient may have an onset of alopecia that can continue to progress throughout their life. If we use the FUE technique for transplantation in young patients, as alopecia continues, the patient will quickly find himself without a donor area available for further transplants. On the other hand, with HST this phenomenon does not occur because the regenerated donor area always offers the patient a full capital of follicular units always available for new interventions. Thus, the patient can face the situation for which he should need a new intervention.

Hair stem cell transplant technique is expensive

The HST technique, however, is a very laborious technique, which requires great precision from the surgeons who must be trained with extremely long and heavy steps. This naturally entails costs. And these costs are reflected in the prize paid by the patient for the procedure. However, patients should realize that with hair stem cell transplantation, they are using a technique that ranks at the top of what surgery can offer them. Instead, we must pay attention to the fact that contiguous follicular units cannot be taken, to prevent damage to the contiguous follicular unit. This limits in a certain sense the number of extractions that can be performed in a donor area, otherwise the phenomenon of regrowth can be compromised.

Unlimited possibility to intervene with HST technic

During an HST hair transplant procedure, at best, 1800 2200 partial grafts can be removed. Which, after the regrowth period, will become about the double. But the same intervention can be repeated multiple times and it is therefore a great incomparable advantage compared to what other techniques offer.

Non-painful extractions without marks or scars

When a partial follicular unit is removed, it is soaked in a growth factor compound because the graft is extremely thin. It gains strength by fertilizing in a certain way thanks to this bath. The surgical instruments used for these operations are specially designed for the patient’s comfort. The instrument for local anaesthesia, injects a continuous flow of anaesthetic, which significantly reduces the painful sensation that differently is caused by syringes. The needles are extremely small in the order of 0.6 mm for extractions and 0.5 mm for implantations. These needles do not leave marks on the head after removal or after implantation.

The treatment Day

An operation is performed in one day : in the morning, the patient is first shaved. Then the anaesthetic is applied. Successively, the extraction phase begins and continues throughout the morning. Then there is a lunch break. During the afternoon, the patient then undergoes the transplantation phase: a series of small holes are created in the recipient area, considering the inclinations and the natural direction of hair growth. A cosmetic surgeon designs the entire implantation according to criteria of aesthetic harmony of the face and the different grafts are implanted on the patient’s skull considering these criteria. The postoperative process is extremely simple and light. And on the fourth day, the patient can wash his head and use a hat or cap.
